December 2010 Archives

I wonder just how many thousands of times that iconic quote from Cool Hand Luke has been used; most likely accompanied by an attempt to immitate Strother Martin's unique drawl. It came to mind with me when someone called the church office concerned that they couldn't reach the preschool today.

Be 100% sure you are dialing the correct number.

881-6800 or 881-1447 either one will get you to the church. The first number goes to the switchboard and before and after church office hours you will get an automated message.

You want to dial extension 217. If you use the 881-1447 number you will want to use extension 217.

If I am away from the desk that extension will forward to my cell phone.

Until they pull new wiring the individual classrooms will not be connected. February we should have individual rooms connected again. For now they can call each other intercom style via the old system.

I can call cell phones and reach teachers with messages in the meantime.

If you need to reach Ashley she is at extension 216. Her hours have been shorter and she has been ill, so you may not be reaching her this week. She also is out in the center frequently so she may not answer quickly.

If you have left Ashley a message and haven't been able to reach her this week and need immediate assistance please feel free to call me at extension 217 or on my cell phone 576-0698.

For calling children in ill, please use the 217 extension as I will definitely get the message.

Changes in how children play has led to changes in how they are able to function.

We're on the Move

Moving day has come early for three Grow To Know classrooms. Blue and Raspberry Academic morning classes and the Green Room Pre-K/K class are packing up early. There is a difficulty with the roof areas where the new hall and classrooms are to be built on the south lawn delaying the building of the new structure, so these three classes are moving earlier than planned. They should be fully relocated by Wednesday.

Love on those classroom teachers tons this week because they are being graceful and continuing their excellent teaching all during the upheaval of moving rooms. Tell them how awesome they are!

So, here is where to find everyone for the time being:

Everyone in full time who is here early or late, before and after the classes split for the day will be joining together in the purple room.

  • Amy's Blue Room will be meeting in the room adjacent to my temporary office space.
  • Tammy is relocating back to her old digs in the Burgundy Room.
  • Jacklyn and Vanessa will be making a new home in the Raspberry Room.

Thank you for your patience as we make much needed improvements and expand our space.

I want to thank you all for remembering to call us when your child is sick. It's been a tough year for everyone with picking up little viral infections and stomach bugs. We are working hard to make sure the kiddos are covering their sneezes and coughs apropriately and washing their hands. The teachers are being extra diligent about keeping things clean. Please let us know what your child is ill with whenever you call in so that we can keep track of all that is going around. We keep all illness information confidential, but we do have to post for families any contagious diagnoses.

Everyone come and have a great all family Christmas event.
