Schweitzer has a new web address. Please use www.sumc.co to access the preschool page, online pay options (resources tab), blogs, and church news.
After worship, be a part of Wednesday night ministries for all ages. The MidWeek experience--teaching on the Book of Acts followed with prayer--begins after worship in the Fellowship Center for adults.
Kids are invited to MidWeek Kids in the Kids Worship Room.
Youth will have MidWeek Youth upstairs following the service.
I haven't found too many lost folks wandering the halls. It is such a blessing to have the construction completed and all of us together and able to get to each other more easily.
Please remember, ONLY enter and exit through the new entry area. I know for some of you it is a walk back when leaving the center, but there is no way to secure areas that are locked off if you are exiting through other doors.
The camera's are in place and the magnetic door system is on its way. It will take a while once it is installed to get the families all logged into the new system so that won't happen immediately. We will keep you posted on when we want to start entering folks into the system once it is installed.
Dear Preschool Parents,
On Monday, February 20th we will begin using the new entrance to the preschool-Door B. The door by the gym will be locked for entry and exit. Please only enter and exit through the official preschool entryway for security purposes.
Come in door B and turn left into the preschool area just beyond where my temporary office was. My new office will be to the left once in the enclosed preschool area (the one with green walls). There is a drop slot in the door for payments and there will be a green basket on the desk for payments if the door is open. The electronic entry is not ready for us to log into yet, but we will update you on the progress of its installation as it happens. Hooray!

We are at this moment awaiting the final inspector for the new office space and entry area. In about an hour we should be approved for occupancy of the final phase of the remodeling.
THIS MEANS that on Monday, February 20th, we will be entering through Door B for all classrooms. The door by the gym (door C) will no longer be an entrance nor will it be an exit. Everyone will come in through the area that will be the electronic check in system area.
You may want to arrive a few minutes early on Monday so that we can acclimate you to the new entry and show you how to get to where you are going. Be sure to alert the grandparents, aunts and uncles, or nannies who might also be on your pick up list.
Over the course of the next few months we will be training on the new sign in system and getting all of the families set up on the computer so that by about the first of May we will be completely online for signing in and out electronically each day.
The day has finally come and we give praise and thanks to God for providing for us.
Should we have such awful weather Monday as is predicted:
We will close morning only classes if Springfield Schools close.
Full day classes are open unless it is so treacherous that none of our teachers can physically get here. (We've only had 4 snow days in 13 years.)
School closings are posted on the blog and on all major radio and television closing lists.
Anyone who has seen The Jerk will remember Navin Johnson (Steve Martin) running excitedly around his yard upon seeing his name in the phone book. The delight on his face appeared on the faces of our teachers today as their phones are finally installed in each classroom.
PLEASE REMEMBER
You need to report absences to the preschool office-extension 217. Ask for extension 217 if you reach the church switchboard. There are numerous things we need to track based on attendance. We will then notify your child's class and the cook for meal counts, etc.
To call the rooms, dial the main church number 881-6800 and ask for the class extension number you need. An automated system is in place for before and after office hours and you can enter the extension number you need that way after hours.
When we call you, the system dials out from the first available extension so if you call back using another church designated number you could end up calling about anywhere. Always dial the church at 881-6800. Always leave a call back number because the display for forwarded calls always reads out with the church extension through which it came not your number.
